How often should I test my alarm system?

Regular testing of your security system can help ensure its proper operation at the time of an emergency and help prevent false alarms. Knowles Security recommends that customers test their systems at least once a month.

What happens when my alarm sounds?
When an alarm signal is received into our monitoring center, AMC will:
*Attempt to call the premises telephone number to make sure everything is all right. Upon verification of your passcode and assurance from you that help is not needed, AMC will cancel the signal from our system.

*If our monitoring center does not receive verbal assurance with a valid passcode, then emergency personnel will be dispatched.

What is Silent Panic?
Emergency personnel are dispatched immediately; no contact is attempted.

What should I do if I set off my alarm?
First, don’t panic. Determine if there is an emergency. When the Monitoring Center receives the signal, they will call the premise. Do not leave your home or business until you have spoken with the monitoring center. If there is no answer or an answering machine, they will dispatch the authorities. The dispatcher will then call the people on your contact list .

What if I need to change the names or phone numbers on my contact list?

Simply call our office during normal business hours or email us and someone will be able to assist you with the changes. The account subscriber must make any changes and the passcode is required.

What should the people on my contact list know?

The individuals that you have selected on your call list should have keys and proper codes to access the property & should know how to contact the owner or act as a representative. They should also know how to arm, disarm and verify with the police that the premise is secure. We recommend that no one enter the premise until law enforcement arrives.

Do I need a permit for my burglar alarm system?

Some cities and or counties require a permit. If you are unsure of the requirements in your area, call the local non-emergency number for your municipality to ensure that you have the proper permits.
